Mandy Forlenza reports back from the National Stationery Show in New York City where vintage design influenced a bevy of products.
Not only were the paper goods embossed with retro motifs, but entire product lines were created with authentic vintage elements as well. My first discovery was My Mother’s Buttons, a line of jewellery made from authentic antique pieces; brass button rings, shoe buckle bracelets and glossy glass pendants which were created with pieces dating back to the 1800s. Simply a perfect match for the romantic and sentimental vintage lover!
Elements by Jill Schwartz was yet another jewellery line that caught my eye. Initially it was the eclectic decor and display that pulled me in, yet the chunky beaded necklaces and bracelets got me to stay a while. This line is for the bold vintage girl who adores colour!
The best authentic vintage paper products were from The White Cabinet. The owner created prints, greeting cards, stamps and wrapping paper with 100 original fashion illustrations from her mother, Hilda Glasgow. These prints are a dream come true for mid-century savants.
Old School Stationers brings the 1970s camping experience back to life! Every letter press piece is filled with patterns that evoke another time. Kitschy vintage lovers will swoon over the campfires-and-mod-orange-and-brown-based colour palette.
Some of my favorite home accessories were by Cake Vintage Table & Home. Not only did Cake Vintage have the most adorable paper products but their vintage wine bottle stoppers made out of doorknobs and architectural elements were a vintage home decor lover’s dream. I am still thinking about the vintage Fleur-de-lis wine stoppers!
